This month, GFA hosted its first World Languages Evening for Educators, welcoming 48 language teachers from schools across the region for an evening of professional development.

The program featured eight sessions led by GFA faculty and educators from neighboring schools. Topics ranged from early language learning through play to questions about assessments, discussion-based classrooms, and curriculum design. Several sessions also explored the growing role of technology—including how tools like AI can be used to create more targeted listening materials, support storytelling, and expand opportunities for student engagement. Together, the evening reflected the range of questions and approaches shaping today’s world language classrooms, and offered practical ideas teachers could carry into their own practice.
Throughout the event, there was a natural flow between more structured sessions and informal conversation. Teachers moved between classrooms, compared approaches, and continued conversations over dinner. For GFA, the event was an opportunity to bring educators together and open the door to continued collaboration across the region.
