Upper School Historians Visit the Pequot Library in Southport

On a recent sunny Friday afternoon, the Advanced Inquiry: History Research (AIHR) class packed into a GFA bus--thanks for the lift, Jairo!--and visited the Pequot Library in nearby Southport. The course trains 12th-grade history students to see themselves as burgeoning scholars and to think archivally by working with primary source materials. Throughout the year, students develop and refine questions on topics of interest, research their subjects by exploring archival collections and scholarly literature, and produce a substantial thesis paper which they present at GFA's annual Symposium in the spring.

Ruth Ozeki, Visiting Writer: Every Step Along the Way Informs Your Craft

Upper School students enjoyed a visit from this year's visiting writer Ruth Ozeki on Thursday. Ms. Ozeki is a novelist, filmmaker, and Zen Buddhist priest, and her books, as her bio reads, "have garnered international acclaim for their ability to integrate issues of science, technology, religion, environmental politics, and global pop culture into unique, hybrid, narrative forms."

GFA Voices: An Evening of Shared Food, Stories, and Joy Returns to Campus

A GFA trademark event returned in person after three years and hundreds of GFA students, parents, siblings, and faculty and staff members convened in the McGrath gallery for a bright evening featuring food from dozens of heritages, an African rice Joloff cookoff, and a beautiful program filled with poems, music, and personal stories from across our diverse community. It was a quintessential GFA evening.
