Bob Whelan announced that the Class of 2023 commencement speaker was a Dragon who is widely recognized as one of the most consequential people in Washington to seniors and families last week.
On Thursday, March 9, the annual GFA Jazz Festival was held in the Janet Hartwell Performing Arts Center.
The fourth grade musical is a tradition that has been part of GFA curriculum for as long as many can remember. An example of leadership and togetherness, the fourth graders were given a standing ovation after their production on March 9.
Last weekend, the Theatre Department competed at the Connecticut Drama Association Festival in Meriden, CT. It was GFAs first time attending the festival and they took home seven awards, the second most of any school in attendance.
On Friday, March 3, and Saturday, March 4, GFA’s middle school put on their spring musical, James and the Giant Peach Jr., featuring student actors and crew from grades 5-8.
The Janet Hartwell Performing Arts Center was filled with passion and energy last Saturday as the GFA Community Service Board, Concert Choir, Harbor Blues, and Beachside Express groups put on GFA’s 33rd annual Harmony for the Homeless.
Today, we were fortunate to have Agnes Vertes, President of the Child Holocaust Survivors of Connecticut, Jewish Historical Society Board member, documentary filmmaker, and survivor of Nazi Europe present at Upper School Assembly.
