Long-time Greens Farms Academy boys varsity soccer coach Chris Mira has been named the Connecticut Prep School Coach of the Year. The honor was announced at this year’s Connecticut State Soccer Coaches Association All-State Banquet this weekend.
Next weekend GFA will be hosting the New England Wrestling Tournament, welcoming more than 300 high school wrestlers and their families to campus. The tournament takes place Friday, February 15 (5:00 PM) and Saturday, February 16 (8:00 AM), in both the Coyle and Bedford gyms.

The Greens Farms Academy Concert Choir and Community Service Board will host the 29th annual Harmony for the Homeless, Feb. 23, at 7:30–9:00 PM (snow date is Feb. 24 at 3:00 PM).
Director of Theatre Programs Stephen Stout announced this week the line-up for this year's Winter Theatre Showcase. The event features an all student-directed and acted performance each night, from Thursday, January 31, to Saturday, Feb. 2, at 7:30 in the Black Box Theatre.
Perhaps sensing a future career in the making, GFA’s Class of 1997 stated in their senior yearbook that classmate David Haskell “couldn’t be grammatically incorrect.” Just this week Haskell (who was also named “Class Charmer”) was named New York Magazine’s next editor-in-chief, the eighth in the publication’s 50-year history.
The first week back from winter break, GFA hosted Lama Yignyen Tenzen, a Tibetan Buddhist monk based in Geneva, NY. Tenzen spent each day working on a 4-foot sand mandala while talking to students and community members about spirituality and mindfulness.
