Modzelewski Takes FAA First Place

Kristiana Modzelewski became Greens Farms Academy’s first-ever FAA track and field champion, taking first place in the 300 hurdles to lead the Dragons' effort at The Masters School on Tuesday and Wednesday. What makes her achievement all the more remarkable is that GFA's track program is just four years old, and it doesn't have its own track on which to train.

Modzelewski was clocked in 51.73 seconds, earning first place and the league championship. The senior also finished second in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.77 seconds.

Will McCall, another senior, earned a second-place finish in the boys 1,500-meter run. His time was 4:32.82 — a new school record.

Another school record fell on the girls side as Haley Nilsson bettered her 1,500-meter run mark with a 5:15.75 time, good for a fifth-place finish.

Tim Northrop placed third in the high jump (5-6) while Larson Palmgren (1500, 4:36.91), Ethan Phan (triple jump, 36-4 ½) and Ryan Howard (discus, 64 feet) all placed fifth.

For the girls, freshman Madison Gordon was fourth in the long jump (14-4 ½) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (19.64).

GFA placed fifth in both the boys and girls meets. They scored 25 points on the girls side and 20 on the boys.
