GFA's second virtual Dragon Dash this weekend broke its fundraising record for the second year in a row, making it one of the school's most successful races to date. Throughout the weekend-long event, over 270 participants ran 5k's, went on family walks, biked around their towns, and celebrated the annual spring event in various physically distant ways.
The event, sponsored by Eleish Van Breems, Athleta, Sound Runner, Fleet Feet, and Romanacci, brought in a total of $6,401, all of which will be donated to Komera, a nonprofit organization in Rwanda that "develops self-confident young women through education, community development, and health."

Nyinawumuntu Solange
Solange is a Komera scholar who joined the University of Rwanda, UR-NYARUGENGE CAMPUS in 2017. She studied Applied Mathematics and she wishes to be a pilot. She completed her studies and dissertation in 2020 and she is just waiting for graduation ceremony that is to take place in 2021, but the month is unknown due to Covid-19.
She is actively looking for part-time jobs and looking for a permanent job.
She is very proud of the support she got from Komera that shaped her.
Uwariboye Ruth
Uwariboye Ruth is a Komera scholar who joined the university in 2021. She is in her first year at UR/CBE — the University of Rwanda, a branch in Kigali; Business College Form School of Finance and Banking. She studies Information Technology. She is an intelligent girl with good marks in school.
Ingabire Olive
Ingabire is a Komera scholar who graduated on 10/25/2019. She studied at Rwanda Polytechnic Institute University (IPRC East) in Hospitality Management. After when she completed school she stayed in the village of Kabuga where she started her own small business selling foods and drinks in a small café. Recently she was hired as a teacher of Senior 4 level in Nyamaseke TVET (Vocational school).
