Spamalot Cast and Crew Announced

It seems no one wanted to miss the opportunity to be a part of year’s fall musical, Spamalot, including Head of School Bob Whelan 'P 24.The show is chock full of Upper Schoolers, both in front of and behind the curtains, who are excited to put together a dynamic show. Whelan will play a small role in the production as well.

This hugely popular show will come to the Hartwell Performing Arts Center stage Nov. 15–17, and tickets will go on sale in October.

"This year we've gone from the 'absurd' of last year (Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead) to the 'ridiculous' this fall of Monty Python's Spamalot," said Director of Theatre Programs Stephen Stout. "A very loose telling of the Arthurian legend with many anachronistic references to pop culture and Broadway, this musical is irreverent and very silly and if you can't laugh at this show, it's a pretty good bet you really aren't in the mood to laugh."

This week Stout and Spamalot's assistant director, junior Beza Tessema, announced the robust cast and crew list, which includes both veterans and newcomers to the GFA stage.

Spamalot, based on the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, was created by Python alum Eric Idle, who wrote the book and lyrics, and with John Du Prez also wrote the music. After its debut on Broadway in 2005, Spamalot won multiple Tony awards, including the award for Best Musical.
