Despite being shorthanded, GFA's Upper School Quiz team finished second in the Connecticut History Bowl — this makes the fifth year in a row that GFA has finished in either first or second place.
The Quiz Team of John Selkowitz ('18), Oliver Diamond ('19), and Win Courtemanche ('20) traveled to Newtown High School this weekend, making it through the preliminary rounds undefeated (5-0). After two playoff wins, they faced Fordham Prep in the finals. Though GFA had beaten Fordham earlier in the day, this time they fell just short of the win.
In the individual competitions, Courtemanche finished fourth in the JV division, Diamond finished third in the varsity division, and Selkowitz took home the gold as the 2018 Connecticut History Bee Champion.
The GFA team has once again qualified to compete at the National History Bowl and Bee in Washington, D.C., at the end of April.
