The Greens Farms Academy Concert Choir and Community Service Board will host the 29th annual Harmony for the Homeless, Feb. 23, at 7:30–9:00 PM (snow date is Feb. 24 at 3:00 PM).
Each year Harmony for the Homeless, which began in 1991, brings together the school's choral groups and individual performers for a show that raises money for charity. Upper School Choral Music Teacher Betsy Bergeron feels that it is a real opportunity for our community to exhibit empathy.
"It is easy to get caught up in our owns struggles and our own worlds," she said. "I like to think of Harmony for the Homeless concerts as a gentle reminder for us to not forget."
This year’s theme is “Songs of Love and Break-Up,” and proceeds from tickets, T-shirts, and refreshments will benefit the Unite Africa Foundation’s The Heaven School (for a computer lab and educational tools), the Cardinal Sheehan Center (Bridgeport) summer camp program.
The event takes place at the GFA Performing Arts Center. Tickets — $20 per individual, $40 per family, $10 per student — are available for purchase ahead of time, or donations can be taken at the door. (Make checks payable to “Harmony for the Homeless.”) Each year students design a T-shirt, which is available for purchase before and after the event. Refreshments, donated by GFA families, are available at 7:00 and 9:00 PM.
