About John Mathews
Coach John Mathews is entering his third year as GFA head boys lacrosse coach.
During a nine-year coaching career in public schools, including three years as an assistant at Fairfield Prep and two years as head coach at Weston High School, Mathews helped lead his teams to five state CIAC championships. Following the 2012 season, Mathews was named Connecticut Post Coach of the Year.
He played college lacrosse at Syracuse, winning an NCAA national championship his freshman year and making it to the Final Four all four years.
Mathews is also founder and managing director of the CT Wolves Lacrosse Club.
A product of Jamesville DeWitt High School in Central New York, Mathews now resides in Fairfield with his wife Lollie and two kids.
