“GFA’s foundation is nearly a century deep, and we're building on that foundation
for the next century." — Bob Whelan, Head of School

In November 2024, we broke ground on the Athletics and Wellness Center (AWC).
Designed by Claris Construction and Roger Ferris + Partners, and scheduled to open in the spring of 2026, the 30,000 square foot-facility will be a community hub and a space to support competition, collaboration, social and emotional growth, and the development of ourselves.
The AWC will feature:
- A field house/flexible play space designed for a myriad of indoor/outdoor sports, year-round physical education activities, and for hosting community events
- Two additional squash courts with viewing galleries
- A two-mat wrestling room
- Division I-caliber high-performance training area
- 17,000 sq. ft. fitness center
- Sports medicine suite with hydrotherapy and injury rehabilitation capabilities
These transformative projects are being funded through GFA’s Centennial Campaign, which officially launches in the fall of 2025 as the school celebrates its 100th anniversary.
I am thrilled, as a student and as an athlete, to witness the creation of space that will sustain growth, connection, and athletic achievement for years to come.Julia Johnson ’25
