Never one to back away from a challenge, Greens Farms Academy girls lacrosse standout Charlotte Walter has announced she will continue her lacrosse career at the Ivy League’s Dartmouth College in the fall.
Walter is one of eight GFA student-athletes to announce his intentions to play a Division-I school during the school’s recent commitment ceremony.
“Dartmouth has the perfect balance of great academics and athletics,” Walter said. “When I visited, the team and coaches were beyond welcoming. I loved how close everyone was and how much fun they were having, while still competing at such a high level and taking lacrosse seriously. Everyone was so supportive and overall the school just had such a healthy, positive environment.”
Walter has helped lead GFA to back-to-back FAA girls lacrosse tournament championships.
She brought a lot of talent to GFA, and will be a captain for this year’s team, but it is the intangibles that really stick out to Dragons coach Ciara Thurlow.
“Charlotte Walter is a remarkable young lady and it’s been an honor to coach her at GFA,” Thurlow said. “She brings an energy of kindness, hard work, and enthusiasm to GFA’s lacrosse program. She sets the tone by giving her teammates 100 percent at all times. She has a sense of purpose and displays her strong character on the field. Dartmouth will be an amazing program for Charlotte where they strive and thrive both in classroom and on the lacrosse field.”
It are those challenges—on the field and in the classroom—that has Walter most excited about joining the Big Green.
“There are countless opportunities at Dartmouth in the classroom and on the field,” she said. “It was a place where I felt I’d be able to truly succeed in both areas with people by my side the whole time.”
Dartmouth went 6-9 last season, 3-4 in Ivy League play, where it lost in the league semifinals
