Greens Farms Academy wrestler Nate Taylor ’24 has announced he will take his athletic and academic talents to compete for the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania starting next fall.
“I chose Penn because of the academic opportunities that it provides for its students,” Taylor said. “I liked the history of the school and the environment for the student athletes. I chose Penn because I have faith in the staff there and their vision for my future as an athlete.”
Taylor is one of three GFA wrestlers to commit to a Division I Ivy League program, joining teammates Gabe Garibaldi (Princeton) and Joey Iammuno (Brown).
“These commitments are culmination of a lot of hours spent in the gym, in the classroom and with the people who supported their goals,” GFA wrestling coach and assistant director of enrollment Jack Conroy said. “I’m so proud of the work that they have put in and continue to put in. I will never be able to express enough how much they mean to the program and to me.”
Last year, Taylor helped the Dragons win their third straight FAA championship and the program’s first-ever New England Prep School title. He won the New England title at 190 pounds, one year after winning the regional championships at 182 pounds.
The team also placed fifth at Prep Nationals, where Taylor finished second in his weight class to earn All-American status. It was his second straight All-American honor.
Penn placed third at last year’s EIWA Tournament.
