For the four years she manned the front line of the Greens Farms Academy volleyball program, Devin McCormack was often times a go-to player for a kill and a point.
Now, she’s taking those talents to the college level.
McCormick announced recently she was taking her high-flying volleyball talents to Middlebury College in the fall.
McCormack was one of 12 Dragon student-athletes feted on Wednesday, March 6, during the school’s annual Spring College Commitment ceremony held inside the Coyle Gym. Those 12 coupled with eight Dragons who committed during the National Letter of Intent signing period in the fall brings the school’s total to 20 different GFA athletes playing in college come fall.
“When I visited, I just really liked the coach’s vibe,” McCormack said. “She was very zen and very calming and I just felt like I needed that energy with my game. It’s a beautiful place with super nice people, too.”
A four-year strarter for the Dragons as an outside hitter, McCormack’s play on the court spoke volumes about her talent.
“Devin McCormack has been an exceptional presence on the GFA varsity volleyball team throughout her career, distinguishing herself as a formidable outside hitter whose talent and commitment have elevated the entire program,” GFA co-head coach Danny Fishman said. “Devin embraced her role as captain during her senior year, transforming from a quiet outperformer into a communicative leader and trusted liaison. Her many contributions to the team have left an indelible mark of excellence and will serve as an example for future generations to come. We are grateful to have gotten to work with Devin and wish her all the best as she begins the next chapter of her academic and athletic career at Middlebury.”
At Middlebury, McCormack said she’d like to major in either economics or something language-related, but she was still undecided as of now.
Getting on the court at Middlebury reminds her a lot of first arriving at GFA as a ninth grader all those years ago.
“Varsity was scary, with bigger and older people, but I think it’s always something to step up to,” she said. “I think I’m ready.”
