Greens Farms Academy wrestler Joey Iamunno ’24 has announced he will take his athletic and academic talents to compete for the Ivy League Brown Bears starting next fall.

“I chose Brown University as a path to chase my career and athletic goals,” Iamunno said. “I feel I placed myself in a position where I can pursue these goals with ample guidance and motivation.  I felt an instant connection with my future coaches and teammates and believe they’ll be there for me whether it be for assistance in my sport or in school.”

Iamunno is one of three GFA wrestlers to commit to a Division I Ivy League program, joining teammates Gabe Garibaldi (Princeton) and Nate Taylor (Penn).

“These commitments are culmination of a lot of hours spent in the gym, in the classroom and with the people who supported their goals,” GFA wrestling coach and assistant director of enrollment Jack Conroy said. “I’m so proud of the work that they have put in and continue to put in. I will never be able to express enough how much they mean to the program and to me.”

Last year, Iammuno helped the Dragons win their third straight FAA championship and the program’s first-ever New England Prep School title. He won the New England title at 138 pounds.

The team also placed fifth at Prep Nationals, where Iammuno finished fourth to earn All-American status.

Brown placed 15th at last year’s EIWA Tournament.
