The Greens Farms Academy girls squash team won its third New England championship of the past decade, defeating Dana Hall School, 5-2, on Saturday, March 1, to win this year's Class C championship.
The Dragons also won the NEPSAC crowns in 2015 (Class C) and 2020 (Class E).
During this year's championship match, held at the Westminster School in Simsbury, GFA swept spots three through seven to take the title.
Senior captain Sahana Bettegowda clinched the championship with an 3-1 win in her match. Bettegowda, the team's lone senior, won the third slot 11-7, 10-12, 11-5, 11-2.
Emily Xue (11-6, 11-3, 11-8), Eliza Bailey (11-8, 11-7, 11-2), Alexis Campbell (11-1, 11-7, 11-3) and Julia Broder (11-3, 11-8, 6-11, 8-11, 11-5) also won their matches.
The Dragons had started the tournament with a 6-1 win over Loomis Chafee. In addition to the aforementioned Dragons, Jackie Elsener notched an 11-5, 11-2, 11-9 win to account for a point, as well.
In the semifinals, a 6-1 win over St. Mark's School, it was another 6-1 win for GFA. Out of the top slot, Claire Woodbury also picked up a point courtesy of an 11-6, 11-1, 11-9 win.
Bettegowda, Xue, Bailey, Campbell and Broder all went undefeated in New England tournament play.
