Batres '27 Wins Second Straight Midlands Wrestling Championship

Greens Farms Academy wrestler Kayla Batres ’27 won her second straight Ken Kraft Midlands Championship last weekend.

The Dragon, who is ranked No. 1 in the country in her high school weight class, was one of three athletes at the prestigious event to repeat as champion.

She won the 110-pound division, competing as an unattached wrestler.

Batres won the championship with an 11-0 technical fall win over a college wrestler from Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

During the tournament, Batres also got to visit with two GFA graduates who were competing in the men's tournament—Nate Taylor '24 (Penn) and Xavier Giles '24 (Princeton).
