Charlotte Wagner’s golf career continued its upward flight this week as the Greens Farms Academy sophomore won the HJGT Bluffton Junior Open in Hilton Head, S.C., this weekend.
In the first round of the tournament, on Saturday, Wagner fired a two-over par 74 to take a 10-stroke lead, according to a post on her Instagram account.
How good was her first round? Consider:
She had 27 putts in the tournament, a career-low total for tournament play.
She hit 92.8 of her fairways in regulation, which is 13 out of 14. Those 13 fairways hit were all in a row, too.
And that was just the first round.
Wagner’s second round was far from her best, but her overall total of 168 was still two strokes better than Lili Nelson of Greensboro, Ga., to give her the latest tournament championship for her to add to her golfing resume.
