Dragons Are Ready To 'Pack The House' on Friday

John Nash

The annual GFA "Pack the House" tradition is slated for Friday and going off as planned.

Seven different Dragon teams will be in action at home on Friday, facing a variety of opponents from the squash courts to the Coyle and Bedford gyms.

Head of School Bob Whelan is once again excited for this special night, saying, “If you have not experienced this GFA tradition before, it’s an outstanding, high-energy, well-ventilated, evening that features GFA student-athletes competing in squash, basketball, and wrestling, with classmates, teachers, and parents cheering them on. Parents of students in all divisions are welcomed with equal enthusiasm, as are Lower School students, provided they are accompanied by parents or a caregiver.”

Here’s the line-up of events taking place:

GIRLS VARSITY SQUASH: vs. Staples, 4 p.m., Squash Center

GIRLS JV SQUASH: vs. Staples, 4 p.m., Squash Center

BOYS VARSITY SQUASH: vs. Staples, 5 p.m., Squash Center

BOYS JV SQUASH: vs. Staples, 5 p.m., Squash Center

GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL: vs. Cheshire Academy, 5:30 p.m., Coyle Gym

WRESTLING: vs. Nobles and Greenough School, 6:15 p.m., Bedford Gym

Additionally, Pack the House will once again support an area charity and this year the Dragons are putting their efforts toward the Women’s Global Empowerment Fund.

T-shirts will be available for purchase plus pizza, drinks and snacks will be sold in the Coyle Gym lobby with all funds going to the WGE fund.

In addition, a raffle will be held where the winning ticket will take home a gift bag of items with an $890 value.
