Four GFA students were chosen to be a part of this year's Drexel University high school photography contest. Seniors Charlotte Cohen, Ethan Phan, and Jolie Rolnick, and sophomore Bella Bohnsack were among the 100 students accepted in the annual nationwide contest that sees more than 1,900 entries each year.
As students progress in the visual arts program, they learn to engage in "creative discourse," with an active vocabulary and understanding of how to make art, critique it, and write about it.
Timed with the election season, Upper School Visual Arts teacher Jeffrey Baykal-Rollins, has recently installed his latest project, Even As We Speak (Midterms), at the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford.
Thursday will mark the opening of the third annual Advanced Arts Seminar Exhibition, featuring the work of Brooke Bakish, Sina Baykal-Rollins, Molly Cunningham, J.C. Foster, Kai Klebes, Sarah Klein, Celeste Matte and Molly Mitchell (curator).
Our young artists fill the halls with their work, and spread their talents into the world by way of competitions, productions, and exhibitions. Faculty, who are both educators and artists, open the doors for exploration, imagination, and skill-building.
