Visit GFA

Here are Several great ways to see if GFA is a fit for your child and your family.

Interview and Campus Tour

The interview and campus tour is one of the best ways to see GFA in action, to understand why we are so proud of our school, and to get all of your questions answered. Your visit will include a conversation with a member of our admission team, as well as a campus tour. Click the link below to schedule your interview and tour.

If you have any difficulty, or wish to speak with someone in the admission office, please email admission@gfacademy.org or call 203-256-7514.

Open House

At GFA, we inspire each other to build a better world, grounded in our core values: passion, integrity, empathy, curiosity, and excellence. Come see first-hand how we instill these beliefs. The Open House events feature age-appropriate activities for children and parents, and provide a chance for visitors to meet with GFA faculty, Head of School Bob Whelan, coaches, and the Admission team.

The remaining Open House date for the fall of 2019 is for PreK-4 on Monday, December 9 at 8:30 AM. Parents or guardians only, please.

What to know for your visit

Lower school (Prek-4)

Families who are applying to the Lower School (PreK-4) will come without their child for the initial conversation and tour. We will meet your child at a later date. Your visit will conclude with a tour from a current GFA parent.

Due to enhanced security, adults must bring a photo ID.

Middle and Upper Schools (5-12)

These visits include a 20 minute interview with the child and then parent, along with a tour led by one of our student Ambassadors.

Due to enhanced security, adults must bring a photo ID.

when to schedule the interview

Many families come for an interview and tour before the Open House. The schedule begins to get crowded after November 1, so you may find more appointments available before then. We welcome you to interview first and then return for the Open House to learn more.

Dress Code

Many families visit during the school day, and so they arrive in their school clothes or uniform. This is just fine. On the other hand, some students want to follow the GFA dress code. In that case, our dress code includes:

  • solid colored pants or skirt
  • collared shirt
  • appropriate long shorts until November 1
  • sneakers or flats.

If you want more examples, follow us online to see examples of our students during the school day. We hope this helps!

Open house

You are only required to come for the interview, however many families attend the Open House to meet teachers and learn more about the vast opportunities GFA has to offer!

Where to go

When you turn into campus from Beachside Avenue, stay in the left lane and follow the road up to the parking lot. You will see signs for "Admission and Visitor Parking." Pull to the front of that lot and park in the designated "Admission and Visitor Parking" spaces nearest to the school. Enter through stone wall entrance and walk through the cobblestone courtyard to the main reception area.

Due to enhanced security, adults will need  a photo ID, so please don't forget it in the car!

security

Due to enhanced security, all adults must have a valid photo ID to enter the building. You'll be asked to wear a visitor's lanyard during your visit. Every GFA faculty and staff member wear lanyards while on campus, so don't worry about standing out!

Here's what our Student Ambassadors love about their GFA experience.

We hope you'll plan a visit to get to know us better through the eyes of the students who call GFA home.

I love the wide range of arts and athletic programs at GFA. I have the opportunity to stage manage productions in the fall, rock climb in the winter, and play golf in the spring.
