Under the leadership of Lower School PA co-presidents Jessica Ross and Abby Hausberg, GFA partnered with the Bridgeport Rescue Mission to provide 150 local families with Bedtime Bags.
Service Learning
Service is at the core of who we are. It furthers our mission of preparing students for a life of purpose. Through the program, students practice empathy, understand citizenship, and begin a lifelong habit of service.
In every division, students engage in on-going projects on and off campus. Through these projects we build rich partnerships with the surrounding community. The projects are also linked to the curriculum, expanding the classroom and allowing students to see the world beyond themselves. There are also several school-wide donation drives and fundraisers throughout the year.
Service Learning:
Service in Action
Lower, Middle and Upper schoolers work to create Thanksgiving baskets for 200 families. This was done with the sheer joy of "giving" something our GFA students and families are famous for.
Over half of the seventh and eighth-grade students are committed to weekly service learning during their Friday Enrichment period. Furthermore, one-third of the sixth graders are already engaged with service learning projects, signifying an early induction to these important endeavors.
