We’ve officially completed two months on campus — wow! While no one knew exactly what this school year was going to look like, we’re pleasantly surprised. Not only with the vigilance and commitment to great hygiene in our school community, but also the true embodiment of our motto ‘Each for All’.

The following missives were shared by GFA Faculty and Staff as a departing gift to the Class of 2020. As we close two months on campus amidst a global pandemic, these wise words to live by are important now more than ever.

With every week we become more grateful to be with each other for more on-campus fun!

Has anyone heard of the CN Tower Edgewalk? For those familiar with it, you know it is a scary thing to do. For those of you who don’t know, the CN Tower is in Toronto, Canada, and is a tourist attraction for many. 

Nature poet and essayist Wendell Berry once said, “The cultural cycle turns on affection… Affection leads, by way of good work, to authentic hope.” Drawing from a similar reverence for the world around them, seniors in Kevin Coll’s Nature Writing class recently shared their nature writings with their Upper School peers.

The Classroom Charter is a critical tool of Yale’s RULER approach to emotional intelligence. Each classroom begins by asking this question: How do I need to feel in order to thrive at school? Safe? Encouraged? Included? Joyful?
