Egg-citing Probability Lesson for Middle School Math Students

GFA Middle School’s Foundations of Algebraic Thinking students participated in an egg-citing learning this week! The annual Probability Egg Smash, inspired by a popular game from The Tonight Show and created by Middle School math teacher Kristen Dee, allows students to explore compound probability with a hands-on approach. Each class starts with a dozen eggs - nine hard-boiled and three raw. The class calculates the theoretical probability of certain events; for example, if Mrs. Dee chooses an egg at random and then Mr. Meyer follows, what is the probability that both eggs will be hard-boiled? But the real fun begins when the experiment is performed. This activity results in a lot of learning and a ton of laughs!
