GFA Alum, Christina Whittaker, class of 2008, has been named Executive Director of Horizons GFA. Christina joined the GFA community as a 7th grade student in 2002. When she began her GFA journey, Christina’s English teacher, Robbi Hartt, recommended that she volunteer with the Horizons program. She was an avid student and Robbi saw it as an opportunity for Christina to get involved and work with other students to support them in a subject she was passionate about. Since then, Christina has felt passionate about working in education, with Horizons being a major focus in her life.
Continuing her Horizons journey, Christina volunteered all throughout her time as a student at GFA and as a college student. Once she graduated from Dartmouth she worked as a high school Spanish teacher at Harding High School in Bridgeport, CT. During her time at Harding she was named Teacher of the Year. Horizons remained a part of Christina’s life throughout her post grad journey. In 2014 she began to work part time as a high school coach at Horizons. She later became the Director of High School and College Success Programs, before stepping into her current position.
Christina is married to her high school sweetheart and fellow GFA alum, Brendhan Haas ’08. They
live in Fairfield with their 20 month old son, James, and still have a close knit group of friends from their GFA days.
