An independent co-ed day school for grades Pre K-12

Connecting the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, STEAM fosters students’ enthusiasm for using design to solve real-world problems, preparing them for college and beyond in a technology-driven world.

All GFA students have the opportunity to pursue their passions for STEAM in a rigorous and collaborative learning environment, exploring coursework across STEAM disciplines, and working with faculty members who share their passions.

Students who complete the course requirements and a culminating, independent project from conception, to design, to realization, earn a Diploma with a Concentration in STEAM.

Culminating STEAM Project

The culminating, one-year project gives students the opportunity to apply the skillset acquired in all STEAM-related disciplines to the design and realization of a technical challenge. The goal of the project is to further the integration of technology, engineering, and visual arts while at the same time promote teamwork, independent thinking, and presentation skills of the students.

Other STEAM courses that may be offered on a rotating basis:

  • Mathmatica
  • Game theory
  • Mathematical Modeling
  • Statistics
  • iOS Programming
  • Game Design

GFA incorporates STEAM projects in the Lower and Middle School curriculum, but students begin the formal STEAM concentration in the ninth grade.

The first Diploma with a Concentration in STEAM will be granted for the school year 2016-2017 to members of the class of 2017.
