Athletes of the Week
This honor recognizes one male and one female athlete, who have displayed outstanding performance, leadership, and sportsmanship in his or her particular sport.  Athletes are nominated by their team coach and are selected on a weekly basis.  Nominations are open to all JV, Varsity, and 3rds teams.

Athletes of the Week for this week are.......

Hayes Marcus - JV Volleyball

Just a freshman, Hayes Marcus has done a great job for GFA volleyball this season. She was quick to learn the role as setter and has made a big impact on the team with her all-around play, keeping the Lady Dragons in many matches. In a tough 1-2 loss to Greenwich Academy this past week, Hayes had many assists to her teammates and contributed with 9 service points. In a later 2-0 win over Hamden Hall, it was Hayes Marcus that led her team to victory, scoring 13 service points and again getting in position to assist her teammates with kills. She has been described by her coach as, "a very coachable athlete who comes to practice every day and will continue to make an impact on GFA volleyball in years to come."

Kourosh Saghri - JV Boys Cross Country

Freshman Kourosh Saghri has been one of the hardest workers on the Cross Country team this year and seen continued improvement and development as the season has progressed. Back in his debut meet this year, Saghri finished with a time of 22:53. By the time Greens Farms' Homecoming rolled around, Saghri had crossed the finish line at 20:36, improving by more than two minutes. Then, running on one of the toughest courses in the FAA at Convent of the Sacred Heart, Saghri finished with a stellar 21:19 time, preparing himself for his first FAA Championship race next Monday.
