Athletes of the Week
This honor recognizes one male and one female athlete, who have displayed outstanding performance, leadership, and sportsmanship in his or her particular sport.  Athletes are nominated by their team coach and are selected on a weekly basis.  Nominations are open to all JV, Varsity, and 3rds teams.

Athletes of the Week for this week are.......

Wills Rooney - Varsity Boys Cross Country

Wills Rooney, a senior captain of the Varsity Boys Cross Country team, earned an overall first place finish amongst the FAA conference in the Sherwood Island Race, beating out a total of 135 other runners. In the second race of the season at The Canterbury School, Rooney again finished first overall, outrunning 120 other runners from all over New England. He was a huge leader of the team last year and will continue to lead his team this year, not only with his outstanding times, but also through his dedication and "never quit" work ethic.

Nicole Litt - Varsity Field Hockey

Freshman Field Hockey player Nicole Litt scored her first two goals of the season (and her high school career), including the game winner, in GFA's 3-1 victory over The Masters School on Thursday, September 22. GFA outshot Masters 14-3, but had trouble finishing in front of the goal during the game. Litt came off the bench determined to finish opportunities in front of the cage and she did just that. Her first goal, which eventually became the game winner, was scored off a corner play as she deflected a ball that was sent in by junior Madison Leonard. With GFA up 2-1 with 23:10 left in the game, Litt scored her second goal off a scramble in front of the goal giving GFA a 3-1 lead. Litt proved to be the spark that GFA needed in the 3-1 league win.
