Horizons at GFA offers challenging and rewarding summer opportunities for high school and college students. We have two types of positions, Teaching Interns and Classroom Assistants.
Teaching Interns are paid, full-time positions (8:15am-3:45pm) for the full six week summer session. College students or high school graduates are eligible to apply, with preference given to students interested in the field of education. Teaching Interns work under the guidance of the two classroom teachers, and have significant responsibilities with the students, leading lessons, work groups, and as mentors. Classroom Assistants are unpaid positions available to students that have completed 9th grade and older. Classroom Assistants work under the guidance of classroom teachers, specials teachers, or teaching interns, and will be involved in supervising, mentoring, tutoring or motivating students. Classroom assistants can work two, four, or six weeks of the summer session. Placement preference will be given to applicants that commit to the full summer session. Click HERE for the 2012 Classroom Assistant application.
The application deadline is March 30, 2012. Hiring decisions will be available in mid to late April. If you apply for a Teaching Intern position but are not selected, you can choose to work at Horizons as a Classroom Assistant if you wish.
