May LS Art Slideshow

The art curriculum in the lower school is designed to teach students the skills needed to express themselves visually, and to help develop comfort and fluency in the language of art. Students are exposed to a large variety of two- and three-dimensional media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, and computer graphics. The exploration and study of various artists, art forms, concepts, and themes from diverse cultures and time periods plays an important role in teaching students about the different forms and uses of art.

The lower school art curriculum also integrates topics of study from the students' homeroom classes, including the sharing of children's books, so as to provide a more holistic understanding and knowledge of a subject.
