New Athletics Facilities Inaugurated |

|

This year’s Homecoming festivities inaugurated GFA’s new outdoor athletics facilities, which include eight new tennis courts and a dedicated baseball infield. Janet Hartwell, Head of School, cut the ribbon with Steve Lawrence of the Board of Trustees (pictured above). Emceeing the event was Mike Greenberg, GFA parent and co-host of ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike in the Morning.
Willie Upshaw, former Major League Baseball player and manager of the Bridgeport Bluefish, came to throw out a ceremonial first pitch alongside Janet Hartwell and Francis Herman ’10, who now plays baseball for Trinity College. Herman and Upshaw later gave batting clinics on the new field, while Marc Powers ’09 and Mickey Gallagher ’04 took to the tennis courts against Mike Greenberg and fellow GFA parent Stew Leonard Jr. for an exhibition match.

When you make an online donation now, you will save energy, money...and hassle!
This year, alumni have two new options in giving to GFA: - SEED Program
- A program that will bolster environmental and life science education in the lower school, with special emphasis on food production around the world.
- World Perspectives Program (WPP) service learning travel scholarships
- Provide financial aid students who are working towards a WPP diploma in global studies the opportunity to participate in a service learning trip in the developing world -- participation on such a trip is mandatory for global studies diploma candidates. Trips normally cost upwards of $3,000.
Of course, you can give to Annual Giving, Financial Aid or help finish GFA's new outdoor athletics facilities. All options are on the pull-down menu at the Online Giving page. |
