Homecoming 2010!
This year’s homecoming fall fair is only a couple of weeks away! Come back to GFA on Saturday, October 23 to enjoy a day of catching up with friends and former teachers (with fun for the whole family) while enjoying the complimentary barbecue and cheering on the varsity teams in their games against King. Go Dragons!

Added to this year's festivities will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for GFA's brand new tennis courts and baseball infield. The ceremony will be followed by tennis matches featuring former GFA players.

Head to www.gfacademy.org/homecoming2010 for more information, including a list of alumni and faculty who have already submitted their RSVPs!

Amphitheater Construction Underway

The space outside the Upper School science wing is in the process of being converted into an amphitheater. The new facility will serve as an outdoor classroom and performance space, as well as an inviting place for student groups to gather. Construction is scheduled to be completed in late November.

Christopher Lydon, Visiting Coyle Scholar
The fall Visiting Coyle Scholar is media personality and interviewer Christopher Lydon. Lydon will give a talk, "The End of Innocence Abroad" on Tuesday evening, October 26, 2010 at 8:00 pm in the Choral Room at GFA. The talk is free and open to the public.

Lydon was a longtime radio host who also launched the NPR show "The Connection."  He currently broadcasts his Radio Open Source from the Watson Institute at Brown University, interviewing people on international affairs. His program has the tagline: "an American conversation with global attitude", and recently featured John Mearsheimer, foreign policy scholar at the University of Chicago, and economist Robert Reich, as well as a six-week series called "Real India", a podcast from the classrooms, offices and byways of that country.

A coffee and dessert reception will precede his talk at 7:30 pm on Oct 26. To RSVP for seats, please contact Alison Freeland at afreeland@gfacademy.org.
