Global Service Scholarships

Available to US students who are applying to travel with GFA programs to Costa Rica, Peru, China, South Africa or The Island School in the Bahamas

The World Perspectives Program is happy to award several Global Service Scholarships for 2010-2011 that will help to make GFA’s World Perspectives Trips attainable for all of our students and families. Scholarship amounts will be anywhere from $400 to $700 and will be proportionate to the amount of Financial Aid that the family receives. To be considered for a Global Service Scholarship no application is necessary. Eligible students who will be receiving awards will be contacted by Dr. Cummings by mid-November. Available funds will be distributed according to the following criteria.

1.      First priority will be given to Grade 11 students who receive >70% Financial Aid and who would like to use the funds for a GFA-sponsored trip in order to fulfill the international service learning requirement to earn a diploma with a concentration in Global Studies.

2.      Second priority will be given to Grade 10 students who receive >70% Financial Aid and who would like to use the funds for a GFA-sponsored trip in order to fulfill the international service learning requirement to earn a diploma with a concentration in Global Studies.

3.      Third priority will be given to other students who receive >70% Financial Aid and who have shown marked interest and engagement in Global Studies. This may include Grade 9 students who are hoping to pursue a diploma with a concentration in Global Studies in the coming year. Preference will be given to those students who have demonstrated engaged interest in Global Studies.
