2009-2010 Trips
During and after the 2009-2010 school year GFA ran two very successful trips to France and Costa Rica.  In addition we proposed science-related trips to Bermuda and Honduras as well as a language and culture trip to China.  Given the economic climate during the 2009-2010 school year, we were forced  to cancel these three trips because too few students signed up.  Nevertheless, we invite you to explore the information for all trips, those that ran and those that were eventually canceled, to learn about the direction that this program has taken in the last year.

Costa Rica

Trip Description
A select group of students will travel to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí, Costa Rica for a 10-day service learning trip. GFA is developing this exciting new program with the World Leadership School (WLS), a Denver-based organization whose mission is to foster global connections and leadership skills among students through problem-centered international service. This trip will focus on the preservation of Costa Rica’s rich biodiversity. WLS programs transform students into global leaders by engaging them in a service project and taking them through explicit leadership training. Students will live with hand-picked host families and will commit to immersing themselves fully in the local language and in the spirit of service learning. Only applicants who have demonstrated particular engagement in the language classroom as well as exemplary school citizenship will be considered for this program.

Here, we will meet our homestay families, with whom we will stay in twos and stay for six nights. In the morning we will follow classes at our level at the Centre International d’Antibes, and in the afternoons we will be guided through Antibes itself, Nice, Cannes, St. Paul de Vence, and, of course, the local beaches, perfume and candied sweet factories.
