JV volleyball was in action on Tuesday afternoon visiting Masters School. Looking for their first win, GFA came out strong in the first game building the lead up to 15-9. However, Masters fought back and hung on to take the first game 22-25. In the second game, the dragons found themselves down early, but chipped away at Masters lead, behind the serving of Hayes Marcus. GFA pulled to within 2 but could not finish and fell 18-25. GFA will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they visit Cheshire Academy in search of their first win! |

The Dragons took home their first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Cheshire Academy 2-1. GFA got off to a good start in the first game, hitting their serves and making great passes. Cheshire fought back, but it was GFA that held on for the 25-22 win. In the second game, the Dragons came out flat and Cheshire took advantage. Although GFA hung around, it was Cheshire that closed out the game 21-25. The third and final game was an exciting one, with both teams battling back and forth. However, due to the strong serving of Hayes Marcus and the tremendous overall play by Alex Krebs, it was GFA that took home the victory 25-20. GFA is back in action on Friday afternoon at 3:30 vs. St. Lukes.

The Dragons played one of their best matches of the season, however it was not enough to overcome a feisty King squad on Friday night. In the first game, GFA got off to a great start and kept the momentum going throughout. The score was back and forth, before King pulled it out in the end 23-25. In the second game, GFA looked sluggish at the beginning, and fell behind early. The Dragons found themselves down 9-18, before mounting a comeback. GFA pulled the game to within 3, 18-21, before King served out the victory 18-25. GFA was led in serving by Ritozeh Saingbe and Asya Evans.

GFA started the match on fire behind the strong serving of Alex Krebs and Hayes Marcus. Everything was clicking and the Dragons were able to take game 1, 25-17. In the second game, it was Wooster that came out strong and built a lead that was too much for GFA to overcome as Wooster took game 2, 17-25. In the tie breaker, both teams fought back and forth throughout, but it was the diving plays made by Asya Evans and the great overall play by Steph McCarthy that proved to be too much for the Wooster School, as GFA drove home with the victory, 25-20. GFA is back in action Friday night against King. |
