Hello Goodbye
mattandrachel.jpg

Dear Alumni,

After three years at GFA, I have decided to step down as Associate Director of Alumni Relations. I have had such a wonderful experience returning to GFA as an employee and enjoyed meeting so many alumni over the past few years. You are a dynamic, generous and talented group and I am very grateful for the opportunity to get to know you. I will leave GFA with great memories and look forward to returning to the school for upcoming alumni events as a guest rather than host! I am delighted to introduce Matt Hintsa '06 as Alumni Relations Associate who will be joining Susan Ball '71 in the Alumni office.

Warmly,
Rachel D'Agostino '03

Greetings to the GFA community!

I am excited to be back at ‘the farm’ where I will be taking on the role of Alumni Relations Associate. I attended GFA from fifth through twelfth grades, and my brother Mikey is a ‘lifer’ in the GFA class of 2011. A few weeks ago I graduated from Cornell University, where I spent much of my time taking on roles in student media and engaging with prospective students and alumni. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the coming months as I settle into my role and start to put some new ideas in motion.

Kind Regards,
Matt Hintsa '06

Commencement 2010
Commencement Day 2010 058_edit.jpg

On Thursday, June 10th, friends, family, faculty and alumni gathered on the front lawn at Greens Farms Academy to celebrate the class of 2010. Seventy seniors graduated after listening to speeches by class salutatorian Matt McCalpin and class valedictorian David Schmidt-Fellner. Keynote speaker David Pogue, a technology columnist for The New York Times, gave the senior class advice for a successful life and left the audience with tears of laughter running down their faces--a wonderful ending to the school's 85th commencement.

Jon Matte's Tribute to Charlie Dietrich
DIEC1.JPG

At the faculty farewell, Jon Matte delivered a hilarious speech honoring math teacher Charlie Dietrich, who is retiring after 25 years at GFA.

Charlie stories are like opinions, as they say. Everyone has one. The stories range from comic to heartwarming to inspirational to politically incorrect... And this is how I think these next few minutes should be spent – simply telling stories about Charlie.

Yearbook Dedication

Upper schoolers gathered on the front lawn as the yearbook Editors-in-Chief announced the Excalibur 2010 theme: the prehistoric era.

"With GFA as our rock, the Class of 2010 will leave fossils of fond memories and never-ending good times…GFA has taught us how to tackle the beast and survive the jungle of a world we live in.  We will keep GFA in our memories and it will always be a part of us."

It was no surprise that the yearbook was dedicated to beloved faculty member Charlie Dietrich, who is retiring after 25 years at GFA.  Special appreciation was given to Math teacher Jon Matte and this year's recognition went to History teacher Jim Fitzpatrick.
