During fiscal year 2012, Alumni Giving at GFA is tracking 30% above the previous fiscal year-to-date. Thank you for your increased support of your school.
Annual Giving
Greens Farms Academy offers its exceptional student body a challenging academic curriculum and a wealth of programs in the arts, athletics and community service. Annual Giving helps ignite our students' passions by funding enhancements that make learning all the more compelling.
Endowment and Capital Funding
The Capital Campaign enables
GFA to offer our expansive program in a state-of-the-art facility while
ensuring the long-term health of the school.
Scholarship Funds
Alumni have told us that
they care deeply about supporting GFA’s financial aid program so that they can
share the experience of a GFA education. Three scholarship funds now are available for Alumni Giving:
The Edward J. Denes Scholarship Fund, the Horizons Scholarship Fund and the
World Perspectives Program Service Learning Scholarships for Financial Aid
Students.
- The Edward J. Denes Scholarship Fund was established to honor this beloved teacher upon his retirement in June 2008. Ed Denes changed many lives during his 43 years of service at Laycock/GFA. Now you can change lives in his name while honoring his extraordinary legacy to the school.
- The Horizons Scholarship Fund is designed to extend the impact of Horizons at GFA, a multifaceted summer and Saturday academic enrichment program targeting Bridgeport Public Schools students in grades K-8. This scholarship enables qualified graduates of the Horizons at GFA program to enroll as full-time students at Greens Farms Academy.
- Global Service Scholarships
Qualified Upper School students will be able to receive a diploma with a concentration in Global Studies: additional courses related to the program, off-campus service learning; senior thesis on a related topic. This fund helps to defray the cost of service-learning trips for students on financial aid so this concentration in Global Studies is equally available to all qualified Greens Farms Academy students.
GFA Sailing Team Fund
GFA's successful sailing team needs an
additional boat and other equipment. Help them continue to excel in the upcoming fifth season for the Water Dragons.
Roger True Scientific Research Fund
Originally founded by Patrick Kanehann '85, this fund will support the growing program of independent studies in science that are focused on original research. Students whose research entails expenses that fall outside the regular science department budget will be able to apply through their advisors for access to the funds needed. One rising senior will be honored at Class Day each year with the Roger True Scientific Research Prize.
