Athletes of the Week
This honor recognizes one male and one female athlete, who have displayed outstanding performance, leadership, and sportsmanship in his or her particular sport.  Athletes are nominated by their team coach and are selected on a weekly basis.  Nominations are open to all JV, Varsity, and 3rds teams.

Athletes of the Week for this week are.......

Olivia Kjorlien & Avery Wolfe - Varsity Girls Tennis

The undefeated Varsity Girls Tennis #1 Doubles Team of Olivia Kjorlien and Avery have a record of 8-0 and have totally dismnatled their opponents this year, not dropping a set all season. In fact, of the 118 games they have played so far this season, they have won 90 of them. Their two latest victims were the Westover School and Kingswood-Oxford. Both players will return to the team next season and again be looked to for leadership and dominance.

Kyle Wolfe - Varsity Boys Tennis

The Boys Varsity Tennis Team had seven players involved the FAA Tennis Tournament held at Yale this weekend and one player brought home the big prize. Sophomore Kyle Wolfe, the teams #1 singles player, won two matches on Friday afternoon to advance to the semi-finals on Saturday. In the semi-finals, Kyle won a hard fought first set (7/6 / 7) then took the second (6-2). In the finals he faced Sayer Paige (Hopkins), a player he has never defeated in or out of school. Kyle started the match patient, determined and most of all on fire. He had control of almost all the points, hit all the big shots and won the first set (6-1). The second set started the same with Kyle controlling the tempo, getting up (4-1) and then Paige showed his toughness taking the next two games, hitting great shots to bring the match close at (4-3). Wolfe dug his heels and recaptured the momentum, taking the next two games to win the Championship (6-3). Kyle is the first GFA player to win the FAA championship since Marc Powers.
