Hoyt Perry, known as "Hop," died on October 11, 2009 at his home in Southport. He was 86. Hop had a long connection to GFA as a Board member, parent and friend. Prior to his retirement in December 1980, Mr. Perry had been an Executive Vice President and Director of Citytrust in Bridgeport where he also headed up the Trust Division and was Chairman of the Trust Committee. Mr. Perry had long been a leader in the community and was currently a director of the Fairfield Museum and History Center. In earlier years, he served as a trustee of the Fairfield Country Day School, Greens Farms Academy, the Bridgeport Hospital and the Rehabilitation Center of Eastern Fairfield County; President and Trustee of the Pequot Library and the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club in Southport; and President of the Southport Area Association. Hop served on the GFA Board from 1974 to 1988 and again from 1992 to 1995. He also served as Senior Warden of Trinity Episcopal Church, Southport and Commodore of the Pequot Yacht Club. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Holsten Perry. All five of his daughters attended Kathleen Laycock Country Day School and Greens Farms Academy. Lauren (Perry) Jones graduated with the class of 1974,Virginia (Perry) Worcester attended with the class of 1975 and she currently teaches second grade at GFA. His daughter, Susan (Perry) Nittler of Orinda, CA, who passed away in 2006, was a member of the class of 1978, Cynthia L. Perry of Walnut Creek, CA was part of the class of 1980 and Deborah D. Perry of Boston, MA was a member of the class of 1983. David Perry, his only son, served as GFA's Athletic Director for 20 years. David's son Alex graduated in 2006 and his daughter Eliza was a member of the 2010 class.
