About Technology

Greens Farms Academy is committed to incorporating technology throughout the curriculum using a campus-wide wireless network that provides web access, e-mail, and integrated course content for faculty, students, and staff.

Students in grades K - 5 have access to Mac and PC laptops that are used for a wide range of activities from research to writing, keyboarding to podcasting.

SmartBoards were incorporated into the technology experience in the Lower School beginning Fall, 2008. In the Fall, 2009 smartboards were installed in Middle and Upper School math classrooms for the integration of smart technology into the math curriculum.  Additional smartboards were added in the Fall, 2010 in the Middle and Upper School science, English, and language classrooms.

In 2006 GFA embarked on a one-to-one laptop program starting in grades 6 - 8;  beginning Fall, 2010, all students, grades 6 through 12 are required to have a laptop for school use. GFA recommends a laptop model each year that is imaged and supported by the school's technology department. GFA also provides students in the Upper School visual arts, electronic music, and physics departments with Macintosh desktop computers to use for specialized instruction in those areas.

The faculty has embraced the technological revolution and views technology as a transparent learning tool. With school-owned laptops for their personal and professional use and with the help of Lower, Middle, and Upper School academy technology coordinators, they are integrating technology into the curriculum in meaningful ways. The goal is to use technology as a tool to enhance the learning process and have technology woven into the curriculum in a seamless manner.
