Our MissionThe College Guidance Office at Greens Farms Academy is prepared to offer parents and students personal and professional guidance through the multifaceted college admission process. It is important to maintain perspective as students contemplate their life goals and reflect on past challenges and achievements that have shaped the young person they are today. The GFA College Guidance staff is committed to both preparing students for the application process and presenting them to Admission Committees at varying levels of selective institutions. Finding the most appropriate and holistic college match is at the foundation of our program and purpose. Each student is respected and valued as an individual who has distinct interests and special strengths. Our staff will guide a student and his or her family through the college search and application process, but it is important to remember that admission to a particular school is never guaranteed and the final decision of enrollment is determined by the student only. Accordingly, each college list is carefully crafted to match individual talents with the unique resources of colleges and universities. In an effort to keep GFA parents and students well informed about the changing dynamics of competitive college admission, the College Guidance Office hosts Upper School College Information Nights and Financial Aid presentations throughout the year. In approaching the college process, it is incumbent on all GFA families to be open minded about exploring a range of colleges as we work together to find the right “match” for each student. Supplemental worksheets will be distributed to students through the College Seminar Series to offer more detailed information on topics covered within the following pages.
