| "GFA
cultivates students with highly diverse passions and interests. We see
it in the athlete who shows up to jazz night in a full sweat from the
varsity basketball game--just in time to take a solo."

Being involved is easy at GFA. From
Community Service lunches to Student Council meetings; to the Environmental Club, Sports Club, or Saving Animals From Exploitation Club meetings; to the improv group or
a cappella singing groups after school; there are always places to be and things to do.
Writing for the newspaper, taping a commercial for
video class, demonstrating rowing techniques as a Friday Speaker, or debating divestiture in Darfur; students find avenues for serious engagement or just pure fun. Of course, classes, sports practices and games, and studying in the library take up much of the day; but students find plenty of time to pursue their interests and discover new ones. Visit our
Clubs page for details on GFA's Student Clubs.
Weekly assemblies feature students speaking and performing as well as alumni describing their college and career experiences and
prominent dignitaries, poets, and writers sharing their talents and perspectives. Students also have the opportunity to work individually with
visiting writers,
actors and artists, and display their own talents in our literary magazine, in our
plays and musicals, and through the
student art mounted throughout the school. Students serve with faculty, parents and trustees on committees such as the Diversity Committee and the World Religions Symposium Committee, helping to plan significant events and contributing their valued voices to important discussions. Opportunities abound for student involvement, and separation between interest groups is rare. The star soccer player is a notable sax player; the award winning artist excels on the varsity field hockey team, and the president of the senior class shoots 3 pointers on the basketball court. Whether on the stage, in a club, on the field, or on a committee, GFA students are active and involved.
