Welcome to the Admission Process

"GFA's admission process is very personal. We want to help you find the right fit - not only for your student, but also for your family. We'll spend a lot of time getting to know each other, and in the process, you'll come away with a more complete understanding of the GFA experience. When you come to campus, please bring your questions and we'll work together to explore how GFA might fit into your family's future. We look forward to getting to know you."

Admission
Looking for and finding the right school "fit" is an exciting and important process. We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to GFA.

Please take advantage of as many opportunities as possible to visit our campus. Tours, visiting days, personal interviews, Open Houses, Kindergarten Sneak Peeks, and sports and performing arts events are great ways to see our community in action, but you may also follow us online via our Web site or on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. Blogs from our students, faculty and Head of School will give you a good feel for the kind of work being done in our classrooms and off-campus studies.

If you are considering GFA’s Lower School, we invite you to take advantage of our “Kindergarten Sneak Peeks,” tours and classroom visits. You can also familiarize yourself with the Lower School community through the pictures and information on our Web site.

For our older students, we invite you to spend a day on campus. If you end up enrolling here, you will find yourself surrounded by other academically accomplished student athletes, musicians and artists. During your years at GFA, you will most likely find and develop passions and talents in unexpected areas. The academic life is invigorating and rigorous and geared toward critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. You'll build close relationships with your teachers and talk with them outside of class about your work and interests. You’ll find that GFA has an atmosphere of trust, respect and inclusiveness, and we work hard to maintain it. GFA is big enough to field a broad array of competitive athletics, extra-curricular activities, community/service learning and independent studies, but small enough that you will often find yourself working one-on-one with teachers or with a small group of fellow-students.

Our school community comes from towns all over southwestern Connecticut, and we enjoy an exceptional range of backgrounds, talents and interests in the classroom and among our families. We invite you to visit us and see how we work together. While our main points of entry for new students are Kindergarten, 6th, 9th and 10th grades, we also bring students in varying numbers into other grades as well.

Please call our Admission Office at (203) 256-7514 to arrange for your visit. Appointments take about 1 ½ hours and include an individual tour of the campus and personal interviews. For your convenience, you may also request printed Admission materials by mail or apply online.

Kind regards,
The GFA Admission Office
